The Photographer

I'm Aliki Kougianou, a photographer based in Greece, specializing in black and white photography. My work explores the interplay of light and shadow, seeking beauty in simplicity and emotion in contrast.

Photography, for me, is about stripping away the unnecessary and focusing on the essential. By working exclusively in monochrome, I aim to highlight form, texture, and mood—allowing viewers to connect with images on a deeper, more visceral level.

Approach

Each photograph is an opportunity to tell a story. Whether capturing the quiet moments of everyday life or the dramatic sweep of a landscape, I strive to create images that resonate with authenticity and emotional depth.

My process is intuitive and contemplative. I believe in taking the time to truly see—to observe how light transforms a scene, how shadows create mystery, and how composition can evoke feeling.
